They integrated this into the then top optics engineering firm of Russia, the optics manufacturing firm LOMO. The high quality optics, bright illumination system(Koehler) and most of the mechanics in LOMO microscopes are closest in comparison to the quality you'll get with the basic Zeiss darkfield microscopes. Zeiss optics products are considered the best in the world. However, for a basic darkfield Zeiss or Leica microscope (next major optics manufacturer) that is comparable with the LOMO darkfield microscope, you'll be paying much more. Nikon and Olympus continue to approach the high quality of Zeiss and Leica, and though not as expensive, are still much higher priced than LOMO.
